Fernand Bouisson

French Politician

1874 - 1959

Premier of France: June 1 - 4, 1935

     An Industrialist, he joined the Socialist Party in 1909 and served as deputy from Bouches du Rhone (Marseilles) from 1909 to 1940, Commissioner of Maritime Transportation and the Merchant Marine 1918-'19 and President of the Chamber of Deputies 1927 - '35. Bouisson was appointed Premier in June 1935 but resigned after four days and failing to form a Government. He voted in favor of granting special powers to Marshal Petain and retired from political life in July 1940.
